Casa De Angelae was formed by parents to advocate and plan independent living opportunities for adult children with developmental disabilities. Over the past several years, the families have become an entity of their own. They have worked hard toward securing a house to be shared by their four daughters – a home in the community where a spirit of mutual support and a respect for individuality and difference will lead to rewarding independent relationships.
The families share a vision of transitioning their daughters out of their family homes before age or ill health prevents them from providing the necessary support. More important, the families are actively working to help their daughters achieve the dream to live independent, meaningful lives as contributing members of their community.
Casa De Angelae has a board of directors, written by-laws and policies and procedures. In January 2008, it was incorporated as a registered, not for profit, charitable organization. The home will become a permanent feature of the support system in our community.
